“T VYFDE GROENE HART” (The Fifth Green Deer),
The property is part of a set of three adjacent warehouses constructed by the Six family from 1640 onwards. The assembly was considered particularly elegant at the time, because of the use of ‘windkasten’ (hoisting hoods) rather than ‘hijsbalken’ (hoisting beams). All three have majestic green deer figures adorning their peaks.
An iconic triplet which has beautifully survived the city’s urban developments. The Fifth Green Deer has a pointed gable with curved covering, wedged between two larger warehouses with trapezoid gables and hoisting hoods, respectively called “T KLYNE GROENE HART” (The Small Green Deer) situated on its left side and “T GROOTE GROENE HART” (The Large Green Deer) positioned on its right.
